An Island Away

Following advice so kindly provided by the hare-raiser, this week's run will be an A - A on Peng Chau - a lovely and small tranquil island in the South China Sea.

Given the location, time of year, and anticipated fall-out from the Mei Foo run.... the run will be predictably brief, hopefully interesting, and since the island is well known, will afford those that wish with a number of short-cutting possibilities.

The hare is anticipating a short jaunt that will allow for a 7 p.m. start departing from the usual sitting out area directly across from the ferry terminal, followed by plenty of cold beer, great circle, and al-fresco dining at the well regarded Forest Bar Thai restaurant where a discounted meal will have been pre-negotiated for the gentlemen.

Ferry Departures from Central are from Pier #6:

Slow boat at 6:30 p.m. $10.50 ordinary and $16.80 deluxe (air-con section)
For the senior gentlemen - Fares of $5.30 ordinary and $8.40 deluxe

Returns to Hong Kong island:

• 09:15 p.m. (slow)
• 10:00 p.m.*
• 10:45p.m. (slow)
• 11:30 p.m.
