Santa Hash 2002

The Aftermath...

As with any hash arranged activity Santa Hash 2002 was a success deftly snatched from the jaws of complete mayhem!! With the Southside committee doing many, many swan impressions the day came off without too many problems - the run was heralded a success (by all but Pokeahardon who seems to be a bit too competitive for the hash), the Southside skit scared all the small children and the Shaffi's curry was enjoyed by all (including Jackoff's hound - much to the little man's chagrin!).

The only black mark of the day was due to a lack of the advertised festive Santa Hash Rugby Shirt. As a long standing tradition the lack of a shirt was a sad turn of events - as much for the Southside as anyone. Having provided T-Shirt People with all the necessary design info 5 weeks previously (and by the deadline set by T-Shirt People) the Southside were informed TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT that T-Shirt People would be unable to provide the stash as they hadn't even bothered to get the necessary material in!!!

The Southside will not be using T-Shirt People again after this incident, and should you actually want to receive the stash that you order you may want to consider the same boycott.

The final numbers were 168 adult hashers and 12 children, with HKD 32,000 being passed to Operation Santa Claus, who ultimately passed the cash to the Pathways Foundation (an organisation which helps children with specific learning difficulties). Below is a message of thanks from Pathways:

Many many thanks to the Hash for the magnificent contribution to Operation Santa Claus, and hence to Pathways.

All of us have been very touched not only by the financial support we have been receiving but also by the real interest shown in our work, and I hope to be able to update you in the New Year on the many ways in which Pathways will be helping children with SLD in our community.

Cheers and On! On! to you all for Christmas and the New Year
